Enterprise Uganda wins IFC Job
By Ricks Kayizzi,

Enterprise Uganda has
won a deal from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private
lending arm of the World Bank to develop business
planning and training kits for women entrepreneurs around the African
continent.
The initiative started by IFC’s Gender Entrepreneurship Markets (GEM)
was in recognition of the fact that
the single largest constraint to the growth of women’s
businesses is the limited access to finance. To address this
constraint, IFC designed a project that is to develop, test and finalize a
set of course modules that can be localized and translated for different
markets in Africa for preparing women-owned small and medium enterprises to
complete business plans and to access loans from formal financial
institutions.
Charles Ocici, the Executive
Director said
"the focus of
the initiative is to leverage the untapped potential of business women
operating small and medium enterprises in Africa.
Under the deal,
Enterprise Uganda will develop the kit to be used to help women-owned
enterprises produce bankable business plans. "This will henceforth enable
them to catch up with their male counterparts in not only running and
sustaining their enterprises, but also qualifying for credit," he said.
