The business clinic attracted
974 youths from Rubabo County who vowed to
implement the skills they had acquired to
create their own jobs and improve the livelihood
of their families despite the limited resources
available. Rubabo has a high population with
each family of 6-8 members having on average
a landholding of 1 acre.
Mr. Charles Ocici, the Executive Director
of Enterprise Uganda said that out of the
13 Business Clinics they had conducted so
far for 7431 youths, the Rubabo group had
the youngest participants in terms of age.
He said this was a wonderful for them because
they were getting the right attitudinal
and survival skills at an early age. He
counseled the youths that the limited land
acreage in Rubabo should not hold them back
in realizing their dreams. Mr. Ocici assured
the participants that attending the business
clinic broadens one’s business-seeking
opportunities beyond agriculture and even
outside one’s area of birth. He said,
“No race, tribe, religion, title,
or position has a monopoly on success or
wealth. Attitude determines altitude in
life.”
While opening the seminar, the Minister
of State for Youths Hon. Jessica Alupo told
the youths that the Government had earmarked
some funds for the youths to access and
invest in income generating projects. She
however advised that only youths with a
positive attitude and good projects would
access the funds through her ministry. The
area MP for Rubabo Hon. Mary Paula Turyaikayo
thanked the Government for the support to
Enterprise Uganda for empowering the youth
in job creation.
